Sadie and Lori, lifelong best friends, planned a weekend getaway with their husbands to celebrate Keith’s birthday. During a late-night chat on the balcony, Lori’s husband, Ben, drunkenly hinted to Sadie about “hiding bottles” at home. Knowing Lori’s history with her father’s alcoholism, Sadie felt uneasy and confided in Lori the next morning. Lori decided to investigate.
Returning home unexpectedly during lunch, Lori discovered a gas leak that could have been disastrous. While searching the house, she found Ben’s “hidden bottles” — not alcohol, but antique bottles he was selling to secretly save for a surprise Paris anniversary trip. He had also included vintage perfume bottles as a gift for Lori, inspired by her love of old films.
Although Sadie felt guilty for spoiling the surprise, her actions may have prevented tragedy, strengthening her friendship with Lori. In the end, the couples’ bond remained intact, and Lori and Ben’s Paris dream was still on track.
