Three years after the death of my husband, I fell in love again. One day, my daughter said, “Mommy, my new dad asked me to keep a secret from you.” Is That Alright?

Three years after my husband Charles died in a freak accident, I met Jacob. He was kind, patient, and adored my daughter, Maggie. Slowly, I let myself believe in love again, and two months ago, we got married.

One night, as I tucked Maggie into bed, she hesitated before whispering, “New-Dad asked me to keep a secret.” My stomach twisted. She revealed that she had seen Jacob with a blonde woman in a red dress coming out of the basement. He told her not to tell me.

When I confronted Jacob, he claimed she was an interior designer, fixing up the basement as a surprise. He even showed me the renovated space. But something felt off. That night, I searched his social media and found a photo of him with a woman matching Maggie’s description.

I set up hidden cameras and told Jacob I had a work trip. While monitoring the footage, I caught him kissing the woman in red. Furious, I rushed home and confronted him. The woman smirked, revealing they had been together for 10 years and that Jacob only married me for my house and income. He didn’t deny it.

I kicked him out immediately. The next day, I packed his things and left them at a construction site. Then, I took Maggie for ice cream. She looked up at me and said, “Mom? I didn’t like New-Dad that much anyway.”

Jacob was gone, but I realized I didn’t need him. I had Maggie, my home, and the strength to move forward. Sometimes, losing the wrong person makes room for the life you truly deserve.
