A faint, panicked meow came from outside.
He traced it to an alley behind the building and found a tiny, shivering kitten in a damp cardboard box—just days old, barely opening its eyes.
Without hesitation, he scooped it up, warmed it in his hands, and fed it with an old bottle. A soft smile appeared. How could anyone abandon such a fragile life?
Curious, he asked the security team to check last night’s footage.
On the screen, an elderly woman with a worn face gently placed the box down, caressing the kitten before walking away, burdened but tender. This wasn’t neglect—it was love from someone out of options.
Determined to find her, he walked the quiet morning streets, showing the kitten to locals. An old shopkeeper recognized her: a homeless woman living by the railroad tracks, known for caring for stray animals.
At the tracks, he found her feeding cats by her van. Her eyes brightened seeing the kitten. “You found her,” she whispered, scared and grateful.
When he asked why she didn’t take the kitten to a shelter, tears came. “I tried. They’re all full. I couldn’t keep her—I’m…”
