British Mom Shocked After Finding ‘Inappropriate’ Symbol On Kids’ Underwear In Store

A mom in Staffordshire, UK, was shocked to discover an “inappropriate” Japanese symbol printed on a pack of girls’ underwear she bought from Poundland for her 10-year-old daughter.

Nicola Pritchard looked up the writing after her daughter asked what it meant, and found it translated to slang terms like “pussycat” or “pussy,” which she felt was unsuitable for children’s underwear.

She complained to the store, urging them to remove the items, especially since the underwear came in very young sizes too. Poundland said the design was part of a Japanese-themed cat collection but acknowledged the concern.

Nicola said she didn’t think it was intentional but found it baffling that such a design passed production and was still being sold days after her complaint. She called it “completely inappropriate” for kids.

Poundland apologized and said they were reviewing the range following her feedback.
