Gloria, a 74-year-old woman living in a nursing home, hadn’t had a visitor in over a year when her grandson Todd suddenly showed up. But she knew he wasn’t there out of love—he wanted money, just like always.
Years earlier, Todd tricked Gloria into selling her house by lying that his wife Natasha needed surgery. In truth, they used the money for a lavish vacation. Gloria discovered their betrayal when she overheard Natasha bragging about the lie. Heartbroken, she stayed silent but was devastated when they later pressured her into moving into a nursing home so they could have more space.
Now, after inheriting a chunk of her cousin’s estate, Gloria sensed Todd’s renewed interest was once again about money. Sure enough, he pleaded for help with another supposed surgery for Natasha. But this time, Gloria played along. She told him she needed surgery too and asked him to choose whose was more important. When he chose his wife, Gloria realized any love he had for her was gone.
Instead of giving him the inheritance, she tricked him into mortgaging his home, promising to repay him once her inheritance cleared. Todd used the money for yet another luxury vacation, unaware Gloria had seen through his lies again.
Before she died from cancer, Gloria left him only $50 and a letter. In it, she revealed she knew everything and had arranged for him and Natasha to work at the nursing home for a year if they wanted to receive the rest of her fortune—now held in trust by the nursing home.
