Arlene and her son, Justin, were at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, preparing for his first solo flight to visit his father, Pierce, in Orlando. The airline attendant reassured Arlene, saying everything would be fine, and Justin would be safely escorted. Though it was hard for Arlene, who hadn’t seen Pierce in years after their divorce, Justin was excited about the trip, especially with the theme parks awaiting him.
After some final instructions, Arlene watched as Justin walked through the gate with the attendant. Once the flight took off, she decided to wait at the airport café until she received Justin’s call. Meanwhile, Pierce eagerly awaited Justin’s arrival at Orlando International Airport. But after an hour passed with no sign of Justin, Pierce grew concerned and contacted the airline. He was shocked when the attendant informed him that no unaccompanied minor had been on the flight.
Panic set in as Pierce called Arlene to share the news. She couldn’t believe it and urged him to check again. Desperate, they both tried to figure out what went wrong. Arlene then remembered she had mistakenly sent Pierce the wrong flight details, and Justin had actually flown into Orlando Sanford International Airport.
Realizing the mix-up, Pierce rushed to the correct airport. An hour later, Justin called Arlene from his father’s side, excited to be at Disney. Relieved, Arlene exhaled deeply and headed home.
