When Elizabeth turned 80, she drafted a will dividing her assets among her three grandsons: Tom, Aidan, and Luke. She decided Tom would inherit her Miami penthouse, Aidan her house in Milford, and Luke her bank accounts. After telling them over tea, Tom and Aidan were satisfied, but Luke was upset, feeling it was unfair.
Luke yelled at his grandmother, accusing her of favoring his brothers, and stormed out. Tom and Aidan tried to calm him, but Elizabeth decided Luke needed to learn a lesson. Two years later, at the will reading, Tom and Aidan received what they expected, but Luke got only an antique chest. Enraged, he left, cutting off his brothers and moving on with his life.
Years later, Luke married Lidia and had a daughter, Meredith, who discovered the chest in the attic. When they opened it, they found gold bars and a key to a safety deposit box at Milford Bank. At the bank, Luke learned his grandmother had stored even more gold bars and valuables in a safe deposit box.
Luke, overwhelmed, apologized to his brothers, who laughed, knowing their grandmother had intended to divide the wealth equally but had hidden it from him due to his past behavior. Luke reconciled with his family, but he never forgot his past mistakes.
