Kyle Greenbecker had spent a year working on an oil pipeline in Alaska and was eager to return home to his wife, Lisa. They had been together since high school, and he never doubted their love. However, when he landed and went home, he found a bassinet on his kitchen table with a baby inside and a note from Lisa saying she’d found the child on their doorstep. The note revealed she suspected Kyle had cheated on her, and though she had her own flings, this was too much. She filed for divorce and left, leaving Kyle to care for the child, whom he soon named Lily.
Kyle, bewildered but determined, learned to care for Lily. Despite struggles, he adjusted to fatherhood and grew attached to her. However, on her second birthday, a woman named Cherish appeared, claiming to be Lily’s biological mother and demanding her back. She said she’d left Lily on Kyle’s doorstep while intoxicated and was now after her for the money her father, a Major League player, could provide.
In court, Cherish argued she was Lily’s mother, but the judge, after hearing from Kyle and seeing Lily call him “Daddy,” ruled in his favor, awarding him full custody. Kyle left the court victorious, knowing that Lily was truly his daughter, and they spent the evening together, celebrating their new life.
