Lisa, a 28-year-old lawyer, left her office to find her fiancé, Max, waiting with a bouquet. Their three-month relationship was already deep, and they planned to marry soon. As they drove, Max noticed an antique ring on Lisa’s finger and asked about it. She explained it was a family heirloom.
Max then mentioned his father’s surgery, saying he couldn’t afford it due to his investments. When he asked Lisa for $50,000, she hesitated but agreed to think about it. However, soon after, Max claimed he had to leave for an emergency at his house, making him miss dinner with Lisa’s parents.
Later, Lisa visited Max’s house, only to be confronted by his wife, Kate. Lisa was shocked to learn Max was married and had lied about everything, including his father’s illness. After Kate revealed Max had been deceiving both women, they decided to confront him.
They found evidence of Max’s fraud at his office and uncovered fake identities. Lisa agreed to help Kate expose him, and they set a trap by transferring money to Max and tracking his withdrawal. When Lisa later met Max for lunch, she transferred the money, but he remained unaware of their plan.
After Max left her house, Lisa realized he had stolen her family ring. She tracked it to an underground auction and won it back for $300,000, confronting Kate publicly. Police arrested Kate and later Max, who was charged with fraud and theft. Lisa felt a bittersweet victory, knowing that Max would face the consequences of his lies. She left the police station ready to start fresh, with closure and the lessons learned.
