Our Sassy Neighbor Threw a Party in Our Backyard, Demanding We Stay at Home, but We Had the Last Laugh

I’m Evie, 30, happily married to a spreadsheet-loving guy. After years of hard work, we finally bought our dream waterfront home. But the real trouble came not from storms, but from our neighbor, Tammy.

Three days in, Tammy knocked, claiming our backyard and dock were shared—a “tradition” from the previous owner. I politely corrected her: we owned that space. She didn’t take it well.

Things escalated quickly. She hosted a loud party in our yard without asking, brought in a bounce house, and even sent a drunk guest to use our bathroom. After that, we drew the line—literally. We hired a contractor to build a privacy fence and create our own oasis.

Tammy threw a fit. She called the police, but we had all the permits. Her boyfriend, Randy, made things worse by confronting the officers and ended up arrested on our driveway.

Weeks later, her landlord called—he was selling the unit. We bought it. When I handed Tammy the deed, informing her she had to move when her lease ended, she was furious. She stopped paying rent, so we started the eviction process.

But then, her mother showed up, apologized, and made things right—paying the rent and ensuring Tammy would move out peacefully.

As they drove away, Nate and I finally exhaled. We could enjoy our paradise again—this time, fully ours. Whether we rent the unit or keep it empty, one thing’s for sure: boundaries matter, and sometimes, standing your ground wins you more than just peace—it wins you the whole backyard.
