Nella’s life is turned upside down when her husband, Eric, asks for space, saying he needs time to think. Over the course of several nights, Eric leaves the house to sleep in his car, leading Nella to fear the worst—an affair. Her anxiety grows until, on the tenth night, she follows him to a park and confronts him.
Eric reveals that he’s been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has been recording bedtime stories for their children to remember him by. He had kept it a secret to avoid burdening Nella, wanting to be normal for her and the kids for as long as possible.
Eric fights valiantly through treatments but ultimately succumbs to the disease. After his death, Nella listens to one final recording from Eric, a heartfelt message about their love story, which helps her heal and cherish their time together.
