When I Got Home from a Work Trip, ‘He Lies’ Was Carved Into My Hedge – Then I Found a Note Explaining Everything

I came home early from a work trip to surprise my husband Tyler and the kids—only to find our hedge carved with the words “HE LIES.” Tyler’s prized hedge, his obsession. Then, a note on the door from a woman named Jennifer, claiming Tyler had lied and ruined her life.

Confused and shaken, I called Jennifer. She told me about her sister Emma, who has cerebral palsy, and how Tyler had scammed $32,000 from her under false promises. Jennifer revealed Tyler’s real identity and his history of conning multiple women.

That night, I found Tyler’s secret phone folder filled with messages and notes on dozens of women he’d deceived. I sent proof to Jennifer and planned my next move.

A week later, I confronted Tyler with a projector slideshow exposing his lies in our backyard. Jennifer and Emma appeared, confronting him with the truth. I handed him divorce papers as federal agents arrested him for fraud.

Six months later, I’d removed the hedge and planted a butterfly garden with Emma’s help. Jennifer, Emma, and I had formed a new family from the wreckage of Tyler’s deceit.

“He planted deception,” I said, “but look what grew instead.”
