When I was 14, I stayed over at a friend’s house, and her parents—especially her dad—were pretty quiet.
Around 2 a.m., I spotted a hidden camera in her room. Freaking out, I quickly threw a blanket over it. Just minutes later, her dad burst in, yelling, “Idiot! That’s a security camera—I use it to watch the street!”
I was horrified.
Turns out, their neighborhood had a bad reputation, and he was super protective of his new car. The only reason the camera was in his daughter’s room was because it had the best view of the balcony where the cables were run.
When I covered the lens, it triggered an alert on his phone, and he thought something was wrong. I was beyond embarrassed. Let’s just say—I never spent the night there again.
