Lena checked her watch—she was late again. As she hurried down the hotel hallway, the familiar scent of lilies and polished wood filled the air, reminding her of weddings. She was on her way to dinner with her best friend, who had just married.
When Lena entered the elevator, a man hurried in after her, bumping into her suitcase. The elevator suddenly stalled, and they were stuck. The man, Dylan, introduced himself as the groom’s best friend and a “wedding date seeker.” As they waited, he casually asked if she’d be his date to a wedding the next day to avoid being alone at the singles table. Despite her skepticism, Lena agreed to join him.
At the wedding, Lena found herself enjoying the pretend date more than expected. Dylan was charming, and they shared light-hearted moments, but things grew complicated when Dylan’s ex, Maya, appeared. Lena couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy, even though it was all supposed to be fake.
Later, Dylan confessed that he didn’t want the night to end, admitting he had feelings for her. Lena hesitated but realized she felt the same. They shared a kiss, and Lena, deciding to stop overthinking, agreed to stay—on the condition that Dylan stop getting them stuck in elevators.
Their evening ended with laughter and the promise of something real.
