To Pay for My Daughter’s Education, I Agreed to a Very Unusual Proposal from My Boss

Being a single mom means your mind never rests—worrying about lunches, doctor visits, bills, and keeping everything together. Even in quiet moments, your to-do list plays on repeat.

While juggling Nathan’s packed schedule, my phone rang. Reluctantly, I answered. It was the school about Lily’s tuition grant. My heart sank when they said the scholarship was revoked after a reassessment, and I had until the end of the week to pay or lose her spot.

Desperate, I turned to Nathan for help. He surprised me with a strange proposal: marry him—fake it—for a week so he could inherit his family estate. In return, Lily’s tuition would be covered forever.

Though it felt crazy, I agreed.

At Nathan’s grandmother’s grand estate, things felt unreal. But as days passed, Nathan showed a softer side, playing with Lily and sharing quiet moments with me. The woman who once controlled everything was stern, warning Nathan that this marriage would cost him everything.

The night before the wedding, I overheard their harsh words and left with Lily before dawn. Nathan found me, confessed his love for me and Lily, and told me he’d rather lose everything than lose us.

When he kissed me, it wasn’t pretend anymore. It was real.
