My neighbor had my son wash his car for a month and then refused to pay—so I made sure he learned his lesson.

When Irene’s son, Ben, came home looking upset, she immediately asked what was wrong. Ben explained that their arrogant neighbor, Mr. Peterson, refused to pay him for all the car washes he had done that month.

Ben had been washing the man’s car every week, expecting $50 per job, but after the fourth wash, Mr. Peterson claimed the car wasn’t spotless and refused to pay at all. Irene was furious — she knew Ben had done an excellent job.

Determined to stand up for her son, Irene gave Ben the $200 he was owed and told him she would handle the matter. The next morning, she confronted Mr. Peterson, calmly reminding him of his promise and even showing pictures Ben had taken to prove his work.

Mr. Peterson tried to talk his way out of it, but Irene stood firm, warning she would tell the whole neighborhood or take legal action if he didn’t pay up.

Faced with her resolve, Mr. Peterson finally handed over the money and agreed Ben would never wash his car again.

Later, Irene and Ben celebrated with lunch, and Ben joked about getting a weekend job at the local ice cream shop. Irene smiled, ready to support him no matter what.
