I always thought you could tell a lot about a man by how he treated his mother. In Mark’s case, I learned that sometimes a man can treat his mother too well. For years, I let it slide, but this time, he crossed a line I couldn’t ignore.
Mark wasn’t a bad man—he was a good father, a loyal husband, and a hard worker. But his relationship with his 71-year-old mother, Melissa, was a different story. She had a strange hold on him, convincing him to do anything she wanted, no matter how ridiculous.
One day, I found out Mark had emptied our savings account without telling me. At first, I thought it was a fraud, but when I called the bank, I found out Mark had transferred the money in person.
Later that night, when I confronted him, he casually admitted he gave the money to his mother to buy a country house, claiming it would be an “investment” and that we would inherit it when she passed. I was furious. This was our money, and he gave it away without consulting me.
The next day, I began to plan my revenge. I gathered information about the house and consulted with a lawyer, who helped me build a case. We proved that the house was purchased with joint funds, making it marital property. During our divorce proceedings, the judge ruled in my favor, and I was granted half ownership of the property.
Mark’s anger was explosive, but I remained calm. A few weeks later, I sold my share of the house to a man named Steve, and when Melissa returned, she found the house had been sold. Mark was furious, but I didn’t care.
Now, I’m free. My revenge was complete, and the cost was all theirs to bear.
