Claire methodically wiped down the counter, using the repetitive task to keep her thoughts in check. Her quiet routine was interrupted by Daniel, the restaurant owner, asking her out for the third time. Despite her reluctance, his persistence made her pause. After some teasing, she agreed to go ice skating with him the next day.
The following day, Claire was on a bus when she saw Daniel with a woman and a little girl in the park, making her realize he had a family. Heartbroken, she confronted him at the rink, accusing him of lying. Daniel took her to his home, where she met the woman, Laura, and the little girl, Mia. Daniel explained that Mia was his niece and he was helping care for her after her father passed away.
Apologizing for her assumptions, Claire asked if they could start over. Daniel smiled and said he’d already fallen for her, leaving Claire hopeful for the first time in a long time.
