Steve, the head chef at Alice’s restaurant, told Christopher, a frequent visitor, that there were plenty of leftovers for him to take home. Christopher’s eyes lit up at the chance to share it with his friends. After receiving the food, he happily thanked Steve and left. Alice, noticing this, began wondering why the boy, who didn’t seem homeless, was often getting leftovers. She decided to learn more about him.
A few days later, Alice met Christopher and offered him fresh food instead. He explained that he lived at an orphanage because his grandmother couldn’t afford to take care of him. Alice, concerned, decided to follow him and saw him drop the food off at a house. An older woman took it inside, and Alice was determined to find out more.
The next day, Christopher admitted that he had been lying—he was taking the food to his grandmother, who was struggling financially after his parents’ death. Alice, moved by his devotion, visited his grandmother, Edith, and explained everything. Edith, overwhelmed with emotion, was touched by her grandson’s efforts. Alice then helped Christopher gain custody of his grandmother, and he was able to return to her care.
Grateful, Edith thanked Alice, and Alice shared that she had lost her parents at a young age and understood the importance of family. Edith offered Alice to come visit anytime, and Alice then revealed she had something else to offer. She asked Edith to care for her as a mother, since she had no one else. Edith tearfully agreed, and Alice was now surrounded by the family she had always longed for.
