I knew from the start my wedding day would reveal a secret. Greg thought it marked the start of our perfect life, but for me, it was the end of a lie.
The ceremony seemed perfect—smiles, laughter, champagne—but inside, I was waiting for the right moment to strike.
As the night went on, Greg grew eager for our wedding night. After the guests left, he led me to the suite. When he unzipped my dress, he saw the tattoo of Sarah, his ex, with the words: “One last taste of freedom before being stuck with the same body forever.”
Greg dropped to his knees, stammering, “No… this isn’t happening…”
I coldly replied, “Sarah couldn’t wait to rub your betrayal in my face, so I made sure you’d never forget it.”
His parents barged in, shocked. I explained, “Greg cheated on me. With his ex. The night before our wedding.”
Greg tried to defend himself, but I snapped, “It wasn’t a mistake, it was a choice. And now you face the consequences.”
He begged, but I stepped back. “It’s over. You ruined us the moment you went back to Sarah.”
Greg’s father ordered him to stand and face what he’d done. Greg, tearful and broken, slowly got to his feet.
I turned to his parents, “I’m leaving. He’s your problem now.” I covered the tattoo and walked out, ignoring Greg’s desperate pleas.
As I walked away, I heard his father’s furious voice: “You ruined everything, Greg.”
I left with my head held high.
Free from lies.
Free from betrayal.
Free from Greg.
