My Parents Moved My Brother’s Things Into My New House While I Was on Vacation

When Jeremy and his wife, Nina, returned from a peaceful vacation, they walked into a nightmare—Jeremy’s older brother, Ted, had moved into their home uninvited. The living room was trashed with beer cans, dirty laundry, and a foul smell. Ted lounged on their couch, acting like he owned the place.

Jeremy, stunned, asked, “Why are you in my house?” while Nina, clearly unimpressed, made it clear this mess was his to handle.

Ted nonchalantly explained that their parents had suggested he move in while they were away. “You’ve got plenty of space,” he said, as if that justified the intrusion.

Family Frustrations

Shocked by his brother’s entitlement, Jeremy called his parents, only to hear his mother defend Ted. “He needed somewhere to stay,” she said. “You don’t have kids yet—what’s the big deal?”

Jeremy tried to remain diplomatic, but it was hard to ignore the fact that Ted, a 42-year-old man, should be self-sufficient. Still, the family insisted he help because “he’s family.”

Nina’s Ultimatum

Fed up, Nina told Jeremy she’d be staying with her sister until Ted was gone. With a week to resolve things, Jeremy devised a subtle strategy to make Ted leave on his own.

Operation: Make Ted Miserable

First, Jeremy shut off the Wi-Fi, knowing how much Ted depended on it. When Ted complained, Jeremy claimed it was just a technical glitch.

Then he cut off the hot water, making showers unbearable. Ted grumbled, but Jeremy shrugged, blaming it on plumbing issues.

To hit his appetite, Jeremy filled the fridge with only healthy food—Ted’s least favorite. Every time Ted opened the fridge, he was met with disappointment.

Finally, Jeremy began blasting music at dawn while running on the treadmill, ensuring Ted woke up annoyed every morning.

Ted Cracks

By day five, Ted was miserable. “I can’t take this anymore,” he snapped. “No internet, no hot water, no food. This place sucks.”

Jeremy, feigning concern, replied, “I thought you’d be grateful. You’re not even paying rent.”

Ted finally packed his things and stormed out, announcing he was heading back to their parents’ house. Jeremy was thrilled.

Back to Normal

With Ted gone, Jeremy cleaned up, cooked dinner, and invited Nina home. She was relieved and happy to return.

When Jeremy informed his parents, he made his stance clear. “Ted’s gone, and he’s not coming back,” he said firmly. His mom was upset, but Jeremy stood his ground. “If you want to enable him, that’s your choice. I’m done.”

Ted’s Wake-Up Call

Back at his parents’ place, Ted was forced to live in the garage and finally get a job. Though he blamed Jeremy, it didn’t matter—Jeremy and Nina had reclaimed their home and their peace.
