Emelia lived near her daughter Mia, son-in-law James, and grandson Levi in Los Angeles. They were a close-knit family, often sharing meals and holidays together.
Everything changed when James landed a job in New York. The move meant leaving Emelia behind. Mia worried, but James insisted New York’s fast-paced life wasn’t suitable for Emelia and suggested a caregiver instead. Heartbroken, Mia agreed, and Emelia stayed in LA with a live-in aide.
They kept in touch with video calls at first, but as life got busier for Mia and Levi, contact faded. Emelia felt increasingly isolated. One day, missing her family deeply, she used her savings to book a surprise trip to New York.

He brought joy back into her life, visiting monthly, eventually moving closer thanks to a flexible job, and encouraging his parents to visit too.
